Different colored dyes can be mixed into the wax to create composite colors, allowing you to experiment with your creative skills to produce candles to fit perfectly into the aesthetics of any room; matching or complimenting the color of walls, furniture, curtains, cushions, carpeting. Bekro uses a stabilizer and anti-oxidant system and stable dye/pigment systems to minimize color fading either during production or by light.

Oil soluble dyes are completely soluble in the wax. Unlike with pigments, the wax keeps its transparency when these dyes are used.

Bekro developed the first colors specifically engineered for use in candles, their products were so innovative and of high quality, that from our early years,  were quickly recognized as the industry leader in the global candle market.

Application

  • Solid-coloring of candles- for through-coloring the whole max mass

Recommendation

A 10 gram bag is sufficient to make up to 10kg of colored wax - this can vary depending on the intensity of the color required. Please note that the picture of the solid dye does not always represent the color of the candle when finished.  This product is not suitable for use with Gel wax.

Stir very well with the wax at around 70C. Use at 1g /kg for slightly lighter shades, and at 2g /kg for slightly deeper shades. Amounts of dye might vary for natural waxes, please test a small sample first.

We supply Bekro Candle Dye in a 10 g Bag.

We recommend using Bekro dye at 0.2%, so this 10g bag will color approximately 5kg of paraffin wax.

Soy and other vegetable waxes may require additional loading to achieve deep color.

The image shows an approximation of the dye colors when used in paraffin wax. Actual colors will vary with the wax and additives used.

Please test to achieve your ideal color.

TOP TIP: Remember to add color blocks before fragrance. Stir very well.

Important complementary information

When making wax-based products like candles, solid dye should typically be added before the fragrance.

Here's why:

1. Temperature Sensitivity: Solid dyes need to fully dissolve in the wax to achieve an even color. This process usually requires the wax to be at a higher temperature, which is easier to manage before adding fragrance. Adding the dye first ensures the wax is hot enough for the dye to melt and blend thoroughly.

2. Fragrance Volatility: Fragrances are often sensitive to heat and can evaporate or degrade if exposed to high temperatures for too long. By adding the fragrance after the dye, you can control the temperature to ensure the fragrance is well-preserved and evenly distributed without losing its potency.

Process:
1. Melt the wax completely.
2. Add the solid dye to the hot, melted wax and stir until fully dissolved and the desired color is achieved.
3. Allow the wax to cool slightly to the appropriate temperature for adding fragrance (usually around 170-180°F or 76-82°C, depending on the wax type and fragrance).
4. Add the fragrance and stir gently but thoroughly.

This order ensures both the color and fragrance are evenly distributed and at their best quality.

Be Inspired

Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the color blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Artists and interior designers have long believed that color can dramatically affect moods, feelings, and emotions. "Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions," the artist Pablo Picasso once remarked.

Color is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood, and even influence physiological reactions.

In this beautiful world of home fragrances, choosing the right product/color to work properly with your wax and fragrance makes a huge difference.

As the fragrances we are using are oils we should use oil soluble dyes.
