Rattan reeds are thin, flexible sticks made from the rattan plant. Rattan is a type of palm that grows in tropical regions of Asia, Africa, and Australia. The stems of the rattan plant are long, slender, and flexible, making them ideal for weaving into a variety of products, including furniture, baskets, and mats.
Our reeds are made of high-quality all-natural rattan reeds responsibly harvested and sourced from Indonesia. Each reed is precision cut to avoid crushing the channel that carries the solution up to the top and to ensure a great fragrance throw.
Rattan reeds are often used in home fragrance products, such as reed diffusers. The reeds are inserted into a container of scented oil, and the oil travels up the reeds through capillary action, releasing the fragrance into the air. Rattan reeds are popular for this purpose because they are porous and absorbent, allowing them to hold onto the fragrance oil and release it gradually over time.
Overall, rattan reeds are a versatile and sustainable material that can be used in a variety of products, from furniture to home fragrances.
As a common rule, 6 to 8 rattan reeds for a small diffuser give you a nice result. Of course, it's a starting point as it depends on the base used as well as the type and load of the fragrance.
The more reeds you add to the mixture the stronger the scent. Keep in mind that a diffuser with more reeds will not last as long as a diffuser with fewer reeds.
We prefer the use of our base. It does not contain any alcohol or DPG, which evaporates much faster and can clog the reeds. It is also VOC-free compliant.
TOP TIP: A typical 100/120 ml with 8 reeds will last around 2-3 months. If you weigh your bottle every 2 weeks and the weight is diminishing then your diffuser is not clogged and working properly. Don't forget you need air movement for effective evaporation.
