CRG WICKS FOR GEL CANDLES

€2,80 EUR

Description

Gel wax is a unique candle wax that requires special wick types due to its thicker consistency and slower burn rate compared to paraffin or soy. Wicks used for gel wax must have certain characteristics to ensure clean, consistent burning, prevent mushrooming, and help in fragrance throw and safety (especially because gel candles can be clear and may contain embeds).

🔥 About the CRG Wick Line

CRG wicks are specifically created for gel wax candles by Monterosa Wicks.
They are constructed with:

  • Cotton as the outer material (for clean burning and good capillary action)

  • Paper core as the inner support (for rigidity and structure)

This design makes them ideal for use in gel wax, which is denser and requires a stronger, more stable wick to perform well.

🧪 Why CRG Wicks Are Ideal for Gel Wax:

Feature Why It Matters for Gel Wax
Paper Core Adds rigidity to keep the wick upright in the dense gel wax; essential for safe, even burning.
Cotton Exterior Natural fiber that promotes a consistent, soot-free burn. Great for fragrance throw.
Designed for Gel Gel wax burns hotter and slower than paraffin or soy, so wicks must handle long burn times and thick wax fuel delivery.

 meaning

  1. High Capillarity (Good Fuel Flow)
Due to the gel’s thickness, the wick must efficiently draw the wax to the flame. This is why paper core wicks are great—they support steady capillary action and a consistent flame.

  2. Heat Resistance & Stability
Some gel candles burn for a long time, so wicks need to withstand longer burn cycles without bending, clogging, or carbon build-up.

  3. Minimal Smoke & Soot
Clean-burning is a priority—especially because gel candles are often transparent and you want to avoid soot buildup.

The wicks are not treated neither with chlorine, nor chlorine by-products in order to improve their combustion.

  • CRG wicks are a great eco-friendly alternative to zinc-core wicks, which are also commonly used in gel but less sustainable.

  • They’re best suited for container gel candles, where stability and burn clarity are key.

  • As always with gel candles, test burns are essential, especially with varied container diameters, fragrance percentages, and colorants.

The excellent burning profile is achieved by the use of high quality cotton (100 OEKO-TEX®, Standards 100 I or II).
