VEGETAL STEARINE ( ADDITIVE FOR RAPESEED WAXES- FROM RAPESEED)

€6,50 EUR

DESCRIPTION

Crystallization Stabilizer  ( frosting reduction )  100% Vegetal,100 % Natural

This vegetable stearic acid is obtained 100 % from rapeseed oil. This is special as stearic acid is mainly obtained from palm oil.

It works as a crystallization stabilizer for vegetable waxes.

Rapeseed oil is extracted from European seeds and processed in Germany. The end product is pure white stearin. The melting point is 58 - 68 °C. This stearin is obtained from natural raw materials and is therefore biodegradable.

Most suitable for rapeseed waxes but can be used with other vegetal waxes

We recommend adding this crystallization stabilizer to rapeseed wax for easier use and better aesthetic results. It helps to achieve a smoother surface between burning cycles and eliminate or reduce substantially frosting ).

The end product is pure white stearin. The melting point is 58 - 68 °C. When heated the liquid becomes clear and has a typical stearin smell. This stearin is obtained from natural raw materials and is therefore biodegradable.

100% natural and vegan.

From European origin, Germany processed its GMO-free guarantee.

InfoRapeseed wax is produced from the rape plant. During the manufacturing process, the rapeseed oil is pressed out of the rapeseed grain and then hardened to wax. As a domestic renewable raw material, rapeseed is biodegradable. Rapeseed has a good ecological balance in the overall process. This is due to the fact that this raw material has short ways and the extraction can be carried out in the best-cultivated area.

Residual levels of pesticides and others below tolerated levels in food.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATION

This is a fatty acid from rapeseed ( palm stearine is another additive that is a fatty acid coming from the palm) You can try both in all vegetal waxes and choose the one that suits you the best.

Thanks to its high melting temperature and its flake shape, this rapeseed stearin promotes and stabilizes the crystallization of vegetable waxes. This will give your candles a smoother appearance, even after burning, and will give you a wider range to work with the waxes ( such as melting temperature, / adding perfume/pouring).

RECOMMENDATIONS OF USE

Procedure :

  • Melt the wax at ideally 70-72ºC.
  • Add the stabilizer at 70ºC.
  • Add the fragrance at 65-55ºC
  • Pour at 53-45ºC

Quantity:

  • Add 2 to 5% is recommended for poured rapeseed wax candles.
  • Add 4 to 10% for refills and fluxes with rapeseed wax.
  • Add 0-1.5% soy wax for molded candles
  • For fondants, this is not necessarily necessary.
  • Tests are to be done for other waxes according to use.

Packaging: in flakes  weight  250 g and 500 g available

Additional technical Info- What is vegetal stearin in general?

Vegetal Stearin is indeed a type of wax. It is a solid, waxy substance that is often derived from fats and oils from vegetable sources. Stearin is composed mainly of stearic acid, which is a saturated fatty acid, and it has a waxy texture at room temperature.

In common usage, the term "stearin" is often used to refer to the solid or waxy portion of fats and oils after they have been processed and separated from other components. Stearin is known for its ability to solidify at specific temperatures, which makes it useful in various industrial applications, such as candle making, soap production, and the food industry, where it is used to give products like margarine and chocolate a desirable texture and consistency.

So, stearin is a type of wax, and it is used in industries where its waxy properties are advantageous.

The term "acid" in the context of stearic acid, which is a component of stearin, is a chemical classification based on its chemical structure and behavior. Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid, which means it has a particular structure that includes a carboxylic acid functional group. This functional group consists of a carbon atom (C) bonded to an oxygen atom (O) by a double bond and to a hydroxyl group (-OH) by a single bond.

The presence of the carboxylic acid group (-COOH) at one end of the hydrocarbon chain is what classifies stearic acid as an acid. In chemical terms, acids are substances that can release hydrogen ions (H+) when dissolved in water or when reacting with other substances. Stearic acid can release a hydrogen ion from its carboxylic acid group, which is why it is considered an acid.

However, it's important to note that stearic acid is a weak acid and does not exhibit the strong acidic properties that are commonly associated with substances like hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. Instead, it is primarily used in chemical reactions as a source of its fatty acid chain, and its acidic properties are generally not a significant factor in most applications where stearin is used.

In summary, stearic acid is classified as an acid because of the presence of a carboxylic acid functional group in its chemical structure, but it is a weak acid and is not typically used for its acidic properties in most applications.
